Operating from a small office in Wanchai, they employed one secretary. They were soon joined by Mark Side, and the three partners quickly established a solid reputation in the Hong Kong legal and business communities. In the short space of time between then and now, TDW has expanded to more than 60 people in total, including 30 fee earners. The firm occupies offices in the Lippo Centre.

Tanner De Witt provide legal services to charities, including acting for Amnesty International Hong Kong in securing an employment visa for the human rights organisation's director in 2006. The firm has also supported the work of Domestic and Migrant Workers, a charitable body established to assist those from overseas who work in Hong Kong, and Enlighten Hong Kong, a charitable organisation whose mission is to widen opportunities and choices for people affected by epilepsy and to raise awareness of epilepsy issues in all sectors of the community.
